Attorneys David J. Noonan and James R. Lance Rank in Top 50 of Super Lawyers List 2024

Ethan T. Boyer, Micaela P. Banach, Sean C. Coughlin Selected for Super Lawyers List for Business Litigation

Noonan Lance Boyer & Banach LLP announced today that five of its attorneys have been selected as 2024 San Diego Super Lawyers for business litigation. Two of the firm’s founding partners, David J. Noonan and James R. Lance, have placed in the top 50, and Ethan T. Boyer, Micaela P. Banach and Sean C. Coughlin secured their spot on the Super Lawyers list, recognizing their outstanding legal expertise and professional achievements.

Over the past four decades, Noonan has amassed an impressive trial record representing a variety of clients from individuals and families to small businesses and major corporations. His success in major anti-trust, commercial litigation and legal malpractice trials has resulted in his recognition on the Super Lawyers list for 18 consecutive years, with 16 of those being on the “Top 50: San Diego Super Lawyers” list and nine in the “Top 10: San Diego Super Lawyers” list. Noonan is a member of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and a former president of both the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).

Serving as the current president of the San Diego Chapter of ABOTA, Lance’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation and serious personal injury, regularly working with clients in multi-million-dollar disputes. As an accomplished trial attorney representing plaintiffs and defendants, he has secured many excellent results, including seven and eight-figure awards for his plaintiff clients and defense verdicts as well. Lance has been on the “Top 50: San Diego Super Lawyers” list for the past six years in addition to being part of the small 5% of lawyers in the state named by “Super Lawyers” for 16 years. Lance is an active member of the San Diego community, volunteering his time as a speaker and arranging presentations and mentoring for students in ABOTA’s partnering institution, Morse High School in Southeast San Diego.

Also named one of the “Best Lawyers in America” since 2015 for commercial litigation, Boyer has demonstrated the highest level of ethical standards and professional skills resolving complex business and commercial disputes, including intellectual property matters, real estate and product liability cases. This is his sixth selection on the Super Lawyers list. Boyer previously served on the board of directors for the San Diego County Bar Foundation and remains an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association, San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association and Association of Business Trial Lawyers of San Diego.

Banach represents clients in practice areas including matters of employment, real estate, products liability, professional liability and business disputes, such as contract issues and fraud. Her successful litigation results have earned her a spot on the Super Lawyers list for the past six years, as well as on the “Super Lawyers: Rising Stars” and “Top 25: 2023 San Diego Women Super Lawyers” lists. Serving as a former president and board member of the San Diego County Bar Foundation, Banach led the nonprofit as it supported underprivileged communities in the region by providing them with access to legal services.

Listed as one of San Diego Magazine’s Top Lawyers in San Diego for real estate litigation since 2013, Coughlin has successfully handled hundreds of complex business and real estate disputes in state, federal and bankruptcy courts, achieving the best results for his clients in the most efficient manner possible. With over three decades of legal practice experience, beyond complex business disputes, Coughlin has substantial experience in representing commercial real estate lenders in the enforcement of their loans and the defense of borrower claims. Coughlin also represents foreclosure trustees, bankruptcy trustees, private fiduciaries, and litigants in bankruptcy courts. He’s a member of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in San Diego, San Diego Bankruptcy Forum and the San Diego County Bar Association.

The Super Lawyers list recognizes outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement with the objective of creating a credible and comprehensive list to be used as a resource for those seeking legal counsel. No more than 5% of lawyers receive this achievement each year. A full description of the Super Lawyers’ selection process can be found at www.superlawyers.com.
